The under-eye area sits on thin, constantly moving skin, and the treatment that suits the rest of the face does not automatically suit it. This guide covers Eye Rejuran, the under-eye option on our skin booster list: what it is dosed at, who it tends to suit, and what a session involves. It is written for English-speaking residents in Seoul who already know the Rejuran name and are trying to work out which line applies to the eye area.

What Eye Rejuran does

Rejuran is a skin booster built on polynucleotides, short DNA fragments purified from salmon. It is not a filler. It adds no volume and it does not lift. What it is used for is the condition of the skin itself: the thin, crepey, easily irritated quality that the under-eye tends to develop earlier than the rest of the face.

The eye area is handled as its own unit rather than as part of a full-face appointment. On our treatment list, Eye Rejuran is dosed at 1 cc for the under-eye area, against the 2 cc unit used for Rejuran Healer on the full face. That is not a smaller version of the same visit. The under-eye is a small, thin, mobile area with its own handling requirements, so it is planned and injected separately.

Part of the reason is mechanical. The skin under the eye is the thinnest on the face and it moves constantly, so anything placed there has to work in a small amount of tissue that never really rests. That is why the area gets its own dose, not a share carved out of a full-face appointment.

One naming point worth clearing up before you book anything. Our treatment list uses the name Eye Rejuran for the under-eye option, and the clinic’s skin booster page lists the same treatment as Rejuran I, described as the Rejuran line made for the eye area, with 1 cc suggested for the under-eye area. The manufacturer, PharmaResearch, describes REJURAN i as optimized for thin skin such as fine lines around the eyes, and REJURAN as a medical device made from PN, a regenerative material derived from salmon, for the temporary improvement of facial wrinkles. It also notes that repeated treatments of 3 to 4 sessions increase the effectiveness and duration of the treatment.

Who the under-eye protocol suits

It is usually considered when the complaint is about the quality of the skin under the eye rather than its shape:

  • Skin that reads as thin, crepey or dull, not puffy
  • Fine lines that are visible when the face is at rest
  • An under-eye that reacts easily and takes a long time to settle after anything at all
  • Someone who wants the texture addressed without anything being added to the area

It is a poor match in three fairly common situations. If the hollow under your eye is a hollow, the problem is volume, and a booster does not fill. If the area is puffy, the cause sits under the skin, not in it. And if what bothers you is the colour and not the texture, the answer depends entirely on where that colour comes from: pigment, shadow and visible vessels are three different problems, which is why our guide to dark circles starts with the cause before the treatment.

Being told that a booster is not what your under-eye needs is a useful consultation, not a failed one.

Not sure which of those describes yours? That is what the consultation is for. Speak with us on WhatsApp.

What a session involves

Whether a numbing cream is used and how the injections are spaced across the under-eye are explained at the consultation.

The PN concentration and the depth at which it is placed follow the manufacturer’s product specification. Ask at the consultation if you want the figures.

How many sessions the eye area needs, and how far apart they sit, is decided at consultation. The clinic’s published aftercare guidance for its skin booster injections, a group that includes Rejuran, recommends visits at least 2 to 4 weeks apart, and notes that the effect appears gradually from about 2 weeks after treatment. If a course is planned, the spacing is part of the plan and not a scheduling detail, because the skin needs time between visits.

What to expect afterwards

Small raised bumps at each injection point are usual straight afterwards. They are the product sitting in the skin. The same guidance notes that needle marks, swelling, pain and bruising can follow an injection, with a recovery period of at least 7 to 14 days and sometimes longer, and that makeup and cleansing are recommended at least 3 to 4 hours after the procedure or from the next day. Mild redness is common. Bruising is more likely here than on the cheek, because the vessels under the eye sit close to the surface, so plan the appointment with that in mind, not the day before something you will be photographed at.

Eye Rejuran does not stop the area from ageing. Any improvement needs upkeep if you want to hold it, and the rhythm for that is set at consultation by how your skin actually responds.

If you have had heavier work in the eye area before, or you are on anything that affects bruising, say so at consultation. It changes the plan. And if something hurts more than you expected, or one spot looks different from the rest of the area, contact the clinic instead of waiting for the next session.

Booking a consultation

A consultation for this is short and mostly diagnostic: a look at the area, and a decision about whether a booster is the right tool for what is bothering you. If the answer is that your under-eye needs something else, you should hear that before you commit to a course, not halfway through one. Treatment is confirmed in person after that assessment.

It helps to arrive with two things: the name of anything you have already had done in that area, and a clear sense of what you want changed. The second one sounds obvious and is the part most people have not settled. Texture, colour and shape point towards different treatments, so saying which one bothers you shortens the conversation considerably.

Frequently asked questions

Is Eye Rejuran the same as the full-face Rejuran session?

No. It is listed and dosed as its own unit: 1 cc for the under-eye area, against the 2 cc unit used for Rejuran Healer on the full face. The eye area is planned and injected separately.

Will it fill the hollows under my eyes?

No. Eye Rejuran is a skin booster, not a filler, and it adds no volume. If hollowing is your main concern, a different approach applies and that should come out at consultation.

Will it get rid of my dark circles?

Not by itself, and it depends on what is causing them. Darkness from pigment, darkness from shadow and darkness from visible vessels are separate problems, so the honest answer only exists after someone has looked at the area.

Can it be done in one visit?

Whether one appointment is enough, or a course is planned, is decided at consultation. The number of sessions for the eye area and the spacing between them are set there.

I have seen this written as Rejuran I. Is that what you offer?
