If you have looked into pore or acne-scar treatments in Korea, Potenza will have come up quickly. It is one of the RF microneedling treatments our international patients ask about most at our clinic in Apgujeong Rodeo, Seoul, usually with the same question: will it actually make a difference to my pores and my skin texture?

Often it does, and Potenza has one quality that matters a great deal for international patients: because it works with radiofrequency rather than light, it is considered suitable across a wide range of skin tones when properly assessed. This guide explains what Potenza is, what it treats, how a session goes, and how we decide whether it suits your skin. It is written plainly, for patients planning a trip to Seoul.

What Potenza is

Potenza is an RF microneedling treatment. Very fine needles create controlled micro-channels in the skin, and radiofrequency energy is delivered through them into the deeper layer. The micro-channels prompt the skin to repair itself, while the radiofrequency heats the dermis so that collagen tightens and rebuilds. Over the following weeks and months, skin tends to look firmer, smoother, and less porous.

Two things make it flexible. It uses a range of needle tips, including a fine Fusion Tip that can drive serums into the skin, and the depth and energy can be adjusted for different concerns on the same face. In our clinic it is performed by a doctor.

What Potenza treats

Patients most often come to us for:

  • Enlarged, oily or congested pores
  • Atrophic, depressed acne scars
  • Rough or uneven texture and dullness
  • Early laxity and loss of firmness
  • Skin that has lost density and bounce

It is genuinely versatile, which is part of why it pairs so well with other treatments. What it will not do on its own is lift significant sagging or fill a deep line. Those need a different approach, and we will say so at the consultation rather than stretch one treatment to do a job it was not built for.

Why Potenza suits many skin tones

This matters more than most guides admit. Many resurfacing lasers work by targeting pigment, so on deeper or tanned skin they can carry a higher risk of leaving marks or worsening pigmentation. Potenza works with radiofrequency, which does not target melanin in the same way, so it is often considered across a broad range of skin tones after proper diagnosis. For international patients who have been cautious about laser treatments at home, RF microneedling may be a useful option to discuss.

What a session is like

We start with a proper look at your skin and a plan for the depth and energy your concerns call for. Numbing cream goes on for around thirty minutes. The treatment itself usually takes twenty to forty minutes. Most people need three or four sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, and the collagen keeps building for some months after the last one.

Downtime and aftercare

Expect redness and a warm, slightly rough feeling for a day or two, a little like mild sunburn. Some patients have light swelling or tiny pinpoint marks that settle quickly. Most people return to their day almost immediately, with sunscreen and gentle skincare for a few days afterwards. We will give you aftercare that fits your skin and your travel plans.

Potenza vs Sylfirm X

These two RF microneedling devices come up together constantly, so here is the honest version. Both use fine needles and radiofrequency. Potenza tends to be the more versatile all-rounder for pores, texture, and acne scars. Sylfirm X is often discussed when the main issue is redness, rosacea, or pigment, because of the way its energy is delivered. Neither is simply better than the other. The right choice depends on what your skin is actually doing, and this comparison is commonly discussed during consultation.

Potenza and Juvelook together

Potenza and a collagen booster can make a natural pairing. Potenza remodels and tightens the skin structure, while a booster such as Juvelook works on the quality and firmness of the surface. In the same plan they may complement each other, which is why many texture-and-pore patients ask about both. The order and spacing should be planned around your skin rather than copied from a package.

Is Potenza right for you?

Potenza suits people whose main concerns are pores, texture, shallow acne scarring, or skin that has started to feel less firm, across a range of skin tones. If your goal is a facelift-level change, or you have active, inflamed acne, it may not be the right starting point, and we will tell you honestly what is. Good candidacy comes down to what we see when we look at your skin, not your age.

Frequently asked questions

Does Potenza hurt?

Numbing cream goes on first, so most patients find it manageable. You may feel warmth and a light prickle during the treatment, and any tenderness afterwards is usually brief.

How many sessions will I need?

Most plans run to three or four sessions, four to six weeks apart, and the collagen keeps building after the final one. Your doctor will confirm the number after assessing your skin.

How much downtime is there?

Usually a day or two of redness and a warm, slightly rough feeling. Most people return to normal activities almost immediately.

Is Potenza safe for darker or tanned skin?

Because it works with radiofrequency rather than light, it does not target pigment in the same way a pigment-focused laser does. Suitability still depends on diagnosis, settings, and your skin condition on the day of treatment.

Potenza or laser for acne scars?

It depends on the scar. Potenza is well suited to shallow, atrophic scarring and texture, while deeper or sharply defined scars may need a resurfacing laser or subcision first. A consultation will make the right order clear.

Can I combine Potenza with other treatments?

Often, yes. It may pair well with collagen boosters such as Juvelook, and your doctor will plan the sequence around your skin.

How are international patients supported during consultation?

English-speaking coordinators help with appointment questions, communication during the doctor-led consultation, and aftercare instructions. You are welcome to message us on WhatsApp before your visit.
